Smooth, permeable, seamless

Resin Bound Surfacing

A fully bound, permeable surface with no loose stones — the smoothest, most versatile resin system for driveways, patios, paths and pool surrounds. UV-stable, low-maintenance and SUDS-compliant.

What you get

Why resin bound is the surface people choose

Resin bound mixes graded aggregate through UV-stable resin and trowels it to a smooth, seamless finish. That single fact drives almost every benefit below.

Smooth, seamless finish

The aggregate is locked through the resin and trowelled flat, giving a comfortable, even surface to walk and drive on — with none of the unevenness of loose gravel or block paving.

Genuinely permeable

Water drains straight through the bound surface into the sub-base, clearing puddles and meeting SUDS requirements. Most domestic installs then fall under permitted development.

No loose stones to scatter

Every stone is bound in place, so there’s nothing to kick onto the lawn, track into the house or sweep back into position.

Holds its colour

UV-resistant resin keeps the aggregate blend looking as chosen, resisting the yellowing and fading that affects lower-grade systems.

Low maintenance

An occasional sweep and a light pressure wash keeps it looking new. No weeding, no re-sanding, no loose-stone top-ups.

Wide design choice

Dozens of natural and decorative aggregate blends, plus borders and inlays, let you match the surface to your property rather than settling for a standard look.

Why choose us

A resin bound surface is only as good as its install

The finished surface can look identical on day one whether it was laid well or badly. The difference shows up months later. We get the three things right that cause most resin bound failures: a properly prepared base, the correct resin-to-aggregate ratio, and full curing before use.

We grade aggregate to suit the job — a driveway taking vehicle weight is specified differently from a patio or a path. Matching the build to the load is what keeps the surface intact under real use.

Edging matters more than people expect. We contain every bound surface with proper perimeter edging so the outer edge can’t chip or crumble, which is where neglected installations tend to break down first.

You receive a fixed, itemised quote with the cost per m² shown, and a 10-year written guarantee on workmanship and materials. If a question comes up after the work is done, we’re still here to answer it.

Clear pricing, no surprises

  • Fixed written quote with cost per m² shown up front
  • Ground preparation, edging and drainage included — not bolted on later
  • Fully bound, permeable surface with no loose stones
  • SUDS-compliant build, so most installs need no planning permission
  • 10-year written guarantee on workmanship and materials

Resin bound is a strong fit when…

  • You want the surface to look high-endThe smooth, seamless finish reads as a deliberate, designed surface rather than a purely functional one — it lifts the appearance of the whole frontage.
  • Drainage is a problemStanding water and run-off disappear when water drains through the surface instead of across it.
  • You have children or elderly residentsThe even, textured surface has no trip hazards from loose stone and keeps reliable grip in wet and icy weather.
  • You're done with maintenanceNo weeding, no loose-stone top-ups, no jointing sand washing away — just an occasional clean.
  • You want a colour that matches your homeWith dozens of aggregate blends to choose from, the surface can be tuned to your brickwork and landscaping rather than clashing with it.

Work process

Our resin bound installation process

Each resin bound surface follows the same disciplined sequence — the reason our installations stay smooth, bound and crack-free long after handover.

01

Survey and colour consultation

We assess the base and drainage and help you choose an aggregate blend that suits the property and the way the surface will be used.

02

Base preparation

We prepare or repair the foundation to the correct depth and fall, because the base — not the resin — is what makes a bound surface last.

03

Perimeter edging

We fit containment edging for clean lines and to protect the surface edges from chipping over time.

04

Mix and trowel

Resin and aggregate are mixed at the correct ratio and trowelled to an even depth for the signature smooth, seamless finish.

05

Cure and inspect

The surface cures in around 24 hours. We check finish, edges and drainage before handover.

06

Tidy handover

All waste removed, property left clean, and simple aftercare explained so it stays looking its best.

Materials

Trusted, industry-recognised systems

We only specify UV-stable resin and graded aggregate from
established suppliers, because the quality of the materials decides how well the surface
drains, holds colour and lasts.

FAQs

Resin bound surfacing questions

Is resin bound the same as resin bonded?

No. Resin bound mixes the stone through the resin for a smooth, permeable finish. Resin bonded scatters loose stone onto resin for a rougher, non-permeable surface. Resin bound is the system on this page and the usual choice for driveways and patios.

Does a resin bound surface get slippery?

The textured aggregate finish keeps grip in wet and icy conditions. For ramps, steep slopes or pool surrounds we can specify an extra anti-slip aggregate for additional traction.

Will it crack?

Laid over a sound base, resin bound is highly crack-resistant — the bound matrix flexes with minor ground movement. Cracking almost always comes from a failing base beneath, which is why we prepare the foundation carefully.

How do I maintain it?

An occasional sweep and a light pressure wash. There’s no weeding, re-sanding or loose-stone topping-up to do.

Can you lay it over concrete or tarmac?

Usually yes, provided the existing surface is sound. Overlaying saves time and money. If the base has failed, we’ll tell you and price the remedial work rather than laying over a problem.
